With the Athens Big Fork Trail Marathon coming quickly trails are making their way into the training plan with increasing frequency. Really, what better way to start the weekend?
Coming back in we saw this cross at the top of a gigantic hill. So we climbed the hill. On the way back down we had a genius idea.
Why not build stairs up the hill? It looks like we might get permission, too. (That’s me almost all the way up.)
After trails we headed to a local 5/10K. The weather was great, if a little windy. The course was pretty flat. I was going to run it easy (8:30-9 min/mile) but I got on the course put in an 8 mine first mile and felt amazing. I quickly recalculated some goal splits, and ended with an 80 second PR of 45:46. Second 10K PR in my Skora Forms and Injinji socks.
And my first race in this age group.
Now to actually start tapering for the White River Marathon next weekend. I’m feeling confident though a tad nervous. It’s going to be awesome.
