Thoughts on a Rainy Tuesday Run

It’s been 6 weeks since I passed out in Colorado and 3 weeks since I discovered I have an ulcer. Since then I have tried to ease back into running. Moderation has been the challenge but things have seemingly gone well. Put in 14 last Saturday, my longest mileage since my half in September. It went well, except my right Achilles was disconcertingly tight (not quite painful). I rolled it out and taped it and it has been pretty good since then.

Got up extra early today to get in 8 miles. It was rainy but not too cold. Forgot to plug my watch in. Lost my partners after 3 miles when we met up with the rest of the group. They slowed to down so a walker would not go alone. So I picked up with my old pace group and pushed a 9:30 the rest of the way. It used to be an easy pace, but it was hard today. Left me winded and slightly light-headed. I haven’t had the light-headedness in a couple weeks, so that was concerning. I’m not anemic according to the blood tests. Not sure what that’s about.

So distance seems to be ok, but exertion may not be. Still hoping to accomplish a full marathon, despite setbacks, in two-and-a-half weeks. Going to take it easy. Added about an hour and a half to my goal time.  There will be a lot of people from NRG (my running group) there either participating or cheering so it should be a good time.
